JOY1250 is a 24 hour, 7 day a week Christian radio station broadcasting God's word to almost 6 million listeners in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. The programming is designed to appeal to listeners of all ages, from the very young to seniors.

The History

JOY1250 wasn't always JOY. From the mid 90's Christian programming was heard over CJMR 1320, sharing the frequency with ethnic programming. However, amid an increased demand for more from listeners and ministries, it became evident that there was a great need for a full time Christian radio station.

Prayers were answered when company President, Michael Caine, was successful in acquiring the AM740 frequency and transferred "Prime Time Radio" from the 1250 frequency. This then left a place for Christian radio to move to. Christian Radio for Southern Ontario - JOY1250, is uniquely Canadian, serving the local Church with programming which reflects the lives of Canadian Christians and takes seriously its role as a ministry broadcasting God's word in music and message.

The Music

When it comes to music, it's all Christian all the time-different styles for different tastes. For Contemporary Christian Music (Third Day, Rebecca St. James) the morning and afternoon drive shows with Jim Leek and Don Millar provide the
latest and best artists and their songs. JoyRride with James Kurtis every Saturday from 5-8pm compliments your weekend plans, followed by Christina's Corner and the best of the JOY juke box all night long.

For Urban Gospel (Donnie McClurkin, Michelle Williams), you’ll love Vision with Godfrey Chisholm every weeknight, followed by Reflections hosted by Junior Smith until 2am. Plus, don't miss Gospel Praise with Davina Japaul every Sunday from 5-8pm.

Sunday Afternoons offer Southern Gospel (Gold City,The Hoppers) with The Gospel Greats followed by Traditional Praise (Steve Green, Gaither Vocal Band) music on Great Hymns of the Faith and Sunday Praise.

There is always something for everyone, and all of it inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

The Message

Some of the very best preachers and teachers such as Chuck Swindoll, Woodrow Kroll, Dr. Charles Stanley, John MacArthur, James McDonald, John Daly, Pastor Fletcher Brothers, and Dr. J. Vernon McGee can be heard daily along with phone in programs such as the Drew Marshall Show on Saturday afternoon, and Bible Answers Live on Sunday night at 10pm.
